For the 2017 Campaign the bar was set high once again for
the Allegany County United Way, still the community responded and the goal was
met. The saying it “takes a village” rings true with our 2017 campaign. Achieving the goal of $350,000 for the
campaign this year it took every village and every town in Allegany County to
respond. The wonderful thing is they did
and because of the dedication and commitment from the people in Allegany County
we made our goal.
"We knew this goal may be tough to make this year, but
once again the residents, businesses and friends of Allegany County showed
their heart and compassion in helping the United Way reach this goal that will
aide our local agencies in making a impact in the lives of many residents of
Allegany County,” said Deb Root, Co-Chair of Allegany County United Way
Campaign Committee.
Abbie Pritchard, United Way's President for said "All I can
say is wow, to the businesses and residents of Allegany County! You did it!
Together we made our goal. No matter what the size of the donation you made,
all the dollars added up. Thank you from the bottoms or our heart for helping
to make a difference for the residents of Allegany County."
"To see the members of the community come forward in
support of one and other is amazing," Executive Director Bryan Gamache
said.
Allegany County United Way would like to recognize five
organizations that had outstanding employee campaigns this year. Otis Eastern
Service LLC, UR Jones Memorial Hospital,
Wellsville Central School District, Alfred University, and Wellsville
and Cuba Giant Food Mart including Park Plaza Liquors and Cuba Liquor
Store. We would also like to thank all
of the Campaign Coordinators who put so much effort to drive the campaigns at
their place of business. Without your
efforts meeting our goal would not be possible.
These funds will be used to provide grants to local
non-profit programs that will improve people’s lives and create meaningful,
lasting change in the areas of health, economic self-sufficiency, education,
and critical needs here in our local community.
Organizations desiring to apply for a United Way Grant are
encouraged to visit the United Way website at www.acuw.com for information,
instructions and deadlines, or call the ACUW office at 585-593-0020. Letters of
Inquiry for 2017-18 funding are due by February 13.
