Fillmore --- Martha A. Bower of Fillmore went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Tuesday, December 3, 2024, in Wyoming County Community Hospital, Warsaw. She was born on June 10, 1930, in Fillmore, a daughter of the late Emra and Olive Acquard Preston. On May 12, 1956, in the Fillmore Methodist Church she married Edwin L. Bower who predeceased her on September 16, 2019.
Martha was the former bookkeeper for Fillmore Gas Company and a 64-year member of the Hume Baptist Church.
She enjoyed sketching, hobby crafting, knitting, crocheting, needlework and reading. She also enjoyed visiting the Wide Awake Club Library in Fillmore.
Surviving are her children, Gail (Steven) Beardsley of Perry, James Timothy “Tim” Bower of Fillmore, Thomas E. Bower of Fillmore, four grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, a brother, Donald Preston of Florida and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and her parents she was predeceased by her siblings, Helen Gallmann, Frank Preston, Doris “Dodie” Zorn, Robert Preston, Stella Smith and Dorthea Papke.
Family and friends may gather from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm on Saturday, December 14, 2024, at the Hume Baptist Church, 10851 Claybed Road, Hume where a funeral service will follow at 12:00 pm. Pastor Joel Stroud will officiate. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Fillmore.
