Conway A. Clayson, 78, of 9384 New Albion Rd, Cattaraugus, and a former Franklinville resident, passed away Wednesday, December 04, 2024 at home after a lengthy illness.
Born on May 10, 1946, in New York City, he was a son of Richard and Opal Fisher Clayson. On May 1, 1972, in St. Ana, California, he married the former Janice J. Scroggins who predeceased him on March 15, 2010.
He served in the United State Marine Corps from 1964-1985. He then went to work at Empire Cheese in Cuba as a Forklift Operator and retired after 22 years. In retirement he worked part time as a Nurse’s Aide at the Houghton Nursing Home and Eden Heights.
In his spare time, he enjoyed watching NASCAR, tinkering with lawnmowers and loved to mow lawn. He was a member of the Little Valley American Legion Post 531.
He is survived by his longtime Loving Companion Denise Hammond-Hensel of Cattaraugus, Two Daughters, Tammy (Mark) Fisk of Cuba and Rhonda Muir of Houston, TX; 2 Grandchildren, Brandy Rogers and Ashley Rogers, A brother-in-law Kenneth Pangburn of Wirt; Several Nieces and Nephews.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was predeceased by a son Timothy Smith in 2009 and a sister Pamela Pangburn on April 10, 2024.
Friends will be received at the Mark F. Rinker Funeral Home & Memorial Service, Inc., 9 Bull Street, Cuba on Wednesday, December 11, 2024 from 10-11:00 A.M. with a funeral beginning in the Funeral Home at 11:00. The Rev. Stan Scoville, a Chaplin for Hospice, will officiate.
Burial will be in Rawson Cemetery, Town of Lyndon, New York.
Memorials may be made to the Little Valley American Legion, 5899 Route 353, Little Valley, NY 14755 where a Celebration of Life Service will be held on May 4, 2025 from 2-4 P.M.
