For Immediate Release: Technology Assistance for Older Adults

 PRESS RELEASE

Technology Assistance for Older Adults Offered at the First Step Family Resource Center

Do you have a computer, smart phone, or tablet? Do you have questions on how to use technology more effectively? Ardent Solutions will be offering technology support services for older adults and caregivers beginning in June.

“Technology is a wonderful way older adults can stay connected to friends and family, enjoy games, shop, or attend cultural and educational programs and events,” explained Larissa Jacobs, Ardent Solutions’ Caregiver Coordinator. “Yet, many older adults need just a little extra help learning about their device and tips on how to use it efficiently and effectively.”

Join Ms. Jacobs from 9:00a.m.-11:00a.m. on Friday, June 14, 2024, and/or June 28, 2024, to learn basic computer skills, digital literacy tips, and receive hands-on instruction on device accessibility. Need help setting up social media, downloading apps, or have questions about online safety, bring your device to the First Step Family Resource Center, 83 North Main Street, Wellsville, New York, either day for one-on-one assistance.

“It came to our attention that digital literacy and support is greatly needed and desired by older adults and caregivers during our recent Community Conversation event on May 14, 2024,” continued Jacobs. “Several participants stated that technology may be a great way to connect to the world and decrease social isolation and loneliness, but older adults sometimes struggle with technology and cannot use their devices to their fullest extent. We want to offer a solution.”

To pre-register or for questions, please contact Larissa at 585-497-1972 or by email at jacobsl@ardentnetwork.org. This workshop is free and open to all Allegany County residents 50 years of age and older and caregivers of older adults. Funding for this program is made possible through the Exhale Family Caregiver Initiative and the Mother Cabrini Health Foundation.
