CCE Allegany County is offering a 2-part workshop addressing the requirements for small-scale poultry producers wanting to process under the 1000 bird exemption in New York State or individuals that just want to process birds safely for their own family consumption.
Workshop participants will learn to recognize diseases of public health concern, take basic biosecurity measures, implement basic Standard Sanitary Operating Procedures, and understanding Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point plans, along with properly dispose of offal and management of wastewater.
You must attend the Tuesday evening session to participate in the hands-on experience in the processing of birds on Thursday morning. The workshop will be hosted at the Alfred State College Farm. Pre-registration is required, space is limited. For more information or to register, please contact Lynn Bliven, 585-268-7644 ext. 18 or email lao3@cornell.edu.
