On Saturday December 5th, 2020 at 11:18 a.m. the City of Olean Fire Investigation Team was requested to the scene of a structure fire at the address of 1119 Spruce Street, Olean NY 14760. The structure was a 2-story wood frame construction multifamily occupancy. The City of Olean Police Department was also on scene to assist with the investigation.
Through the process of a thorough scene investigation,
interviews, witness statements, statements of first arriving firefighters, burn
pattern analysis and scene reconstruction it was determined that the origin of
the fire was in the basement of the structure in the south east corner. The
cause of the fire was determined to be accidental in nature and was a result of
an electrical malfunction.
