September is
National Suicide Prevention Awareness Month—a time to share resources and
stories in an effort to shed light on this very important topic impacting our
local communities. All month, mental health advocates, prevention
organizations, survivors, allies, and community members unite to promote
suicide prevention awareness. In honor of Suicide Prevention Awareness month,
the Allegany County Suicide Prevention Coalition will feature two (2) events on
Saturday, September 26th to honor Suicide Prevention Awareness month.
The first
event is being held in Fillmore at the Pavilion and Minard Park from 9:00 a.m.
until 12:00 p.m. The second event will be held in Friendship at Island Park
from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. The main activity will be designing yard signs that
will serve as a memorial or present an inspirational message about life and
living using safe messaging. The signs will then serve as a mobile display,
first at the locations of the events, and later at other prominent locations
throughout Allegany County. Attendees can pick and choose which awareness
activities to take part in. For more information, please visit www.ardentnetwork.org.
We are
following the CDC and New York State COVID guidelines. Masks are required and
sanitation stations will be available. Pre-registration is encouraged by
