Man injured when McKean County house explodes

A 68-year-old man was injured Thursday afternoon when the home he was in exploded. The incident was reported at 1:35 p.m. and happened at 1295 Kushequa Avenue in Hamlin Township, McKean County. According to Cpl. Agosti of the Pennsylvania State Police Fire Marshal's Office, Kenneth S. Bernhard of Corry was inside the two story wood frame home when the dwelling exploded. Troopers said the home was blown off its foundation and partially collapsed. Bernhard was able to crawl out from underneath the rubble. Cpl. Agosti said the victim was then flown to Erie County Medical Center in Buffalo for treatment of injuries. Mt. Jewett Fire and Ambulance responded to the scene. Troopers said the home was destroyed and the cause remains under investigation. Agosti said the damage was estimated at $100,000.
