“The best thing about a scramble format is that it is a
quicker paced tournament and allows for golfers at every level to participate,”
said Carrie Redman, Event Chairperson. Ms. Redman continued, “The tournament is
fulling up, but we are still looking for a few more teams and accepting
donations from local businesses who would like to sponsor our event.”
This year’s Tournament Sponsors are Update Pharmacy and Otis
Eastern Service LLC. Other sponsors include, Bonadio & Co. LLP, Acme
Business Machines, Dr. Robert Maiden, Hodgson Russ LLP, First Citizens
Community Bank, Richardson & Stout, NAPA of Wellsville, Steuben Trust
Company and Bokman of Wellsville.
There will be four hole-in-one prize holes; Hole 11 ($500
cash), Hole 14 ($500 cash), Hole 18 ($500 cash) and Hole 3 ($10,000 cash).
Friends of Allegany Arc is very excited to have such great prizes available for
this year’s golfers.
The cost of the tournament is $60.00 and includes a cart, 18
holes of golf, beverages, and dinner.
“The Friends Summer Scramble is a very fun and beneficial
fundraiser,” said Redman. “Event proceeds go directly toward opportunities for
people with special needs. Last year’s tournament allowed the Friends
Foundation to provide training and educational opportunities for individuals
with developmental disabilities, practice jerseys, uniforms and travel
accommodations for Allegany County’s Special Olympics Teams, and much more.”
