Statement from Rep. Martin Causer:
With ambulance companies in our communities and across the state continuing to struggle, I am joining with fellow lawmakers and ambulance personnel for a press conference and rally to save our ambulance services at the state Capitol.
The event will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 6, in the Main Capitol Rotunda. Anyone and everyone who supports our emergency services is welcome to attend!
The event will include a call for action on legislation to help address some of the financial challenges plaguing ambulance companies. Specifically, the focus will be on House Bill 699, which I sponsored, to increase the Medicaid reimbursement rates for both Basic Life Support and Advanced Life Support services. These rates have not been increased since 2004 and are more than 200 percent below Medicare and commercial insurance reimbursements. We will also urge action on legislation (there are bills in both the House and Senate) to provide reimbursement for treatment provided by ambulance personnel, even if transport does not take place.
If you can’t attend the press conference/rally but are interested in watching, it will be streamed live at www.RepCauser.com.
