On Saturday, just after 10 a.m., Sweden Township Police Chief Bryan Phelps was dispatched to respond to UPMC Cole in Coudersport for a gun shot victim in the Emergency Room.
After an investigation, Chief Phelps said it was determined that Dylon Witter, 23, of Andover had disassembled and cleaned his FNS- 9, 9mm semi-automatic handgun and failed to fully reassemble it.
Witter and his friend arrived at 1036 Railroad Avenue in Roulette Township at the gun range to target practice and after he had inserted the clip and racked the slide, the gun fired and shot Witter in his left hand.

Witter was then driven to the hospital by his friend and was treated and released for his injury and it was determined to be accidental in nature.
No charges will be filed.
