UPDATED Obituary: Rita Insley, 84, Wellsville

Wellsville, NY - Rita Insley, 84, of 354 South Main Street passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, January 13, 2018, surrounded by her family. She was born May 22, 1933 in Geneva, NY the daughter of Lester and Gertrude (Nilan) McGuire. On November 29, 1958 in Geneva she married A. Donald Insley who predeceased her on May 19, 2002.
Rita was a 1951 graduate of DeSales High School in Geneva and a 1955 graduate of the St. Mary’s School of Nursing in Rochester. She was employed as an RN at St. Mary’s Hospital until she and Don moved to Morrisville in 1964. They moved to Wellsville in 1970 and she was a mother at home until she started her career as a Public Health Nurse in 1979, she retired in 1999. She was an avid sports fan who enjoyed attending her children’s and grandchildren’s sporting events. She also enjoyed knitting, reading, playing Bridge and bingo. She was a women of faith who served as a Eucharistic Minister and volunteered at ICS.
She is survived by nine children, Diane Insley of San Marcos, Texas, Deb Insley of Wellsville, Karen (Bob) Carson of Canandaigua, Katie (Bob) Toney and Bob (Tracy) Insley, both of Wellsville, Doug (Amy) Insley of Rochester, Jim (Karen) Insley of Lime Lake, Jean (Jack) Sutherland and Tim (Krista) Insley both of Rochester, 22 grandchildren, three great grandchildren, two brothers-in-law, Fred (Paige) Insley of Colorado Spring, CO and Ollie (Sally) Insley of Mount Morris and several nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by a grandson Bryce Insley on January 24, 2001, a brother, Les, and two sisters, Mary Martha and Franny.
Friends are invited to call on Tuesday, January 16th from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the J. W. Embser Sons Funeral Home Inc. in Wellsville. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, January 17th at 11:00 a.m. in the Immaculate Conception Church in Wellsville. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please consider memorial donations to the Hart Comfort House, the Ronald McDonald House in Rochester or the Immaculate Conception School.
