Statement Provided By Wellsville Central School District January 19, 2018 – 2:10 p.m.
On Tuesday, a student
informed the school of a message sent over the weekend via social media. The message included a threat against the
secondary school. We took immediate
action to investigate and referred the matter to law enforcement. To date, we have not been able to determine
that a credible threat existed, however the investigation is continuing. At no time was the security of students in
jeopardy. A public statement was not
made earlier in order to not jeopardize law enforcements’ investigation. The student who issued the message and the
student’s parents are cooperating with the school and with law
enforcement. I would like to commend the
student who reported the message. We
continue to encourage students and parents that if they see or hear any kind of
a threat, they report it immediately. If
you have any questions regarding this matter, you are welcome to contact me at
the District Office. As always, our
students and staffs’ security and safety remain our number one priority.David Foster, SuperintendentWellsville Central School District
