Two Allegany County women face drug charges after traffic stop


Mooney
Livingston County Sheriff Thomas J. Dougherty reports the arrest of two Allegany County women after a traffic stop on Interstate 390. On January 19, 2018 at approximately 6:00 p.m., Deputy Shawn Whitford was assigned to the Operation Safe Interstate Initiative, when he stopped a vehicle on Interstate 390 in the Town of Geneseo for a Vehicle and Traffic Law violation. During the course of the Deputy's roadside investigation, he allegedly found the women to be in possession of over 6 grams of crack cocaine. The Deputy also allegedly found the driver to be in possession of marijuana. According to a press statement, the driver of the vehicle, 27-year-old Mistie M. Mooney from Canaseraga, was arrested and charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 5th, Unlawful Possession of Marijuana, as well as the Vehicle and Traffic Law violation.
Houghtaling
The passenger in the vehicle, 29-year-old Suzanne R. Houghtaling from Almond, was arrested and charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 5th. Both Mooney and Houghtaling were turned over to Central Booking Deputies at the Livingston County Jail for processing and pre-arraignment detention. Mooney and Houghtaling were later arraigned in the Town of Geneseo Court before Judge Houston. The District Attorney's Office had recommended bail be set at $2,000 cash or $4,000 bond for both. The Judge released both women on their own recognizance. Assisting Deputy Whitford with the arrests was Sergeant Matt Orman and Deputy Tim Sweeting.
