Amity-based Troopers honor fallen Marine

State police from the Amity barracks today honored Lance Corporal Zachary D. Smith of Hornell who died in combat on January 24, 2010 while serving his country with the United States Marine Corps in Afghanistan. Smith was a native and life resident of Hornell and was 19 years old when he died. Zachary’s father, Trooper Christopher Smith is stationed at SP Amity. The Marine Corps flag will be flown at SP Amity today in honor of Smith. (photos courtesy of New York State Police).
