BOLIVAR, N.Y. - Janice “Jan” Clark, 68, a longtime resident of Bolivar and the West Clarksville area, passed away in her home surrounded by her loving family on Friday, January 12, 2018, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born on February 10, 1949 in Cuba, N.Y., she was a daughter
of Edward and Virginia Miller. In 1965, she
married C. James Clark, who survives.
Jan was a graduate of Richburg High School and was also a
graduate of the Allegany County (N.Y) BOCES Licensed Practical Nurse
program. After raising her family, she
started her career in nursing and home health care. She was loving caregiver for her sister, Pam
Worth, who also passed away from cancer.
She enjoyed going to the casino in Salamanca, just relaxing
in her old beat up red bathrobe, going to NYC and “whooping it up with her
sisters and brother for sister’s weekend”.
She enjoyed her dogs. Her
greatest love was spending time and being with her family. “The days will be a little darker without
her, we will miss ya, Mom”.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband; four children,
Vic (Paula) Clark, Brad Clark, Tim Clark, and Jamie (Steve West) Clark-West;
five grandchildren, Brandon Clark, Dylan Clark, Kirstin Clark, Kassidy Clark,
and Abigail Clark-West; two sisters, Patricia (Pete) McKay and Karen Miller;
two brothers, Jim (Bonnie) Miller and John (Lisa) Miller; three stepbrothers,
Steve (Gerry) Howard, Drew (Karen) Howard and Brent (Pam) Howard; two
stepsisters, Connie Hunt and Virginia Seamon; two sisters-in-law, Joyce
(Lowell) Steiner and Rosa (Jim) Piatt; a brother-in-law, Ernie (Barb) Clark;
and several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
In addition to her parents, Jan was predeceased by her
stepfather, Ken Howard; two sisters, Sherri Johnson and Pamela Worth; a
brother, Lawrence “Bimmy” Miller; and two nephews, Gerrod and Wesley Miller-Skiver.
Family and friends are invited to attend a memorial service
at 1pm on Saturday, January 20, 2018, at the Bolivar American Legion, Main
Street, Bolivar, N.Y.
Assisting the family is Kevin J. Dusenbury, funeral
director/owner of the Virgil L. Howard Funeral Home, Shinglehouse, Pa.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American
Cancer Society or to the ASPCA of Allegany County.
