Robert H. “Bob” Knowles, 97, of Wellsboro, PA, formerly of
Ulysses, died Monday, December 11, 2017 in his home. Born October 3, 1920, in West Rockhill
Township, Bucks County, PA, he was the son of Harry Earl and Alice Bertha Emma
Geyer Knowles. He was married to the
former Regina Janik, who predeceased him on November 20, 2006. A World War II Veteran, he served honorably
with the US Army in the European Theatre.
Bob was employed by Bracalente Manufacturing Co. in Trumbauersville, PA
as plant manager and by Gaines Company, Gaines, PA. He was a member of All Saints Episcopal
Church in Brookland, PA, Susquehannock Trail Club, and served on the Ulysses
Library Board of Trustees. A Boy Scout
leader for many years, he was honored with the Silver Beaver and the Order of
the Arrow. The Susquehannock Trail Club
honored him with the Wil and Betty Ahn “Big Shoe” Award. Surviving are: three children, Arlene Davis and Sandra R.
Eisenhart, both of Wellsboro, and Robert P. (Darlene) Knowles of Macungie,
PA; 11 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife, he was predeceased
by sons-in-law, Ray L. Eisenhart and Robert E. Davis; and two sisters, Helen Tebeau and Mildred
Tebeau. A private graveside service will
be held in All Saints Cemetery, Brookland, PA in Spring 2018. Memorials may be made to Ulysses Library,
