Naomi M. Solomon, 69, of 26 Stevens Ave, passed away to be
with her Lord and Savior December 19, 2017, at Absolut of Houghton, following a
brief illness. Born May 24, 1948, in Cuba, NY, she was daughter of Clarence E.
and Lucille Clemons Groves. On September 18, 1965, in Friendship Church of God
in Christ, she married Oscar Solomon who predeceased her on October 14, 2001.
Naomi resided most of her life in Friendship, where she
attended and graduated from Friendship Central School class of 1966. She was
married in 1965 and began to raise her children, who were the light of her
life. She was very active in her church, Friendship Church of God in Christ.
She was a Sunday School Teacher, Recording Secretary, Executive Secretary,
Mother of the church and very active in Mission AGAPE food pantry.
Naomi was interested in things her children and
grandchildren did and always attended sports and events in the schools they
were involved with. She enjoyed working for Prestolite Electric for many years.
She also enjoyed cooking, crocheting and traveling.
She was a member of Friendship Church of God in Christ and
was District #5 Secretary of Western New York Church of God in Christ.
Surviving are two sons, Anthony L. (Megan) Solomon and James
E. (Debra) Solomon both of Friendship; two daughters, Regina M. (Darrin) Harmon
of Friendship and Rachel A. (Jason) Solomon of Dover, PA.; eight grandchildren,
Nathan Solomon Sr., Warren Solomon, Deion Solomon, McKayla Solomon, Shakira
Solomon, Kuzma Harmon, Aaliyah Harmon and Jerome Harmon; two great
grandchildren, Nathan Jr. Solomon and Marianna Solomon; two brothers, Rev
Russell (Lorain) Groves of Baltimore, MD and Joseph E. Groves of Friendship; a
sister, Rev. Luci (Emmanuel) LaVenture of Friendship; and several loving nieces
and nephews.
Naomi was predeceased by a sister Eunice Barber.
Friends may call at
the Treusdell Funeral Home, Friendship, from 6-9 pm Thursday December 21, 2017.
Funeral Services will be held at the Friendship Church of God in Christ Friday
December 22, 2017 at 11:00 am. The Rev. Russell Groves, assisted by Pastor Luci
LaVenture will officiate. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Friendship.
