HORNELL, NY –Shawn Hogan, in his last appearance as Mayor after 32 years, bid a tearful farewell in front of a packed audience Monday night at City Hall. Family, friends, coworkers, and ex-coworkers all gave the departing Mayor a standing ovation after a very touching 8 minute speech at the conclusion of the regular Common Council meeting.
Hogan briefly reflected on his time in office, thanked the many people he has worked with over the years, and especially thanked his family whose support, according to Hogan, was second to none. He also touched on his hopes and visions for the city in the future, and wished incoming Mayor John Buckley the best of luck come January 1st. And finally, Hogan made sure he thanked 5th Ward Alderman Joe Foreman for his 28 years of service on the city council and IDA board. Foreman will be retiring at the end of this year.
