WHITESVILLE - Leon Jackson "Jack" Ordway Jr., 59,
of Whitesville, N.Y., passed away unexpectedly on July 13, 2017. He was born
Oct. 2, 1957, to Leon and Ethel (Tracy) Ordway. On July 25, 1987, he married
the love of his life, Monica (Miles) Ordway. His passions were playing country
music with his band, Triple Play, and his father and brothers. He played music
every Monday night at the Wellsville VFW, in which he was a member of the
auxiliary for the Frank B. Church Post 253, serving as patriotic instructor. He
was a dedicated volunteer fireman who started serving the community of
Whitesville from 1980 until 2004 in which he transferred and remained with the
Willing Volunteer Fire Company as fire police, totaling 37 years of service. He
served 10 years with the Independence Emergency Squad. He was a social member
of the Genesee Fire Department. He loved helping anyone who needed it. He was
employed at The Giant Food Mart from 1976-1979. He worked for 38 years as a
hard-working workaholic at the Herbert Cooper Company in Genesee, Pa. He was a
graduate of Whitesville Central School, Class of 1976, with a BOCES degree.
He left behind his loving daughter, Tracy (Brad) Field, Leon
(Jen) Ordway III; his grandchildren, Bailey "Squeaker" Ordway, Parker
"Spiderman" Field, Steven and Haidyn Field, Isabelle and Daniel
Ordway, all of Belmont. He also left behind his beloved fur babies, Grisom
"Goobie" and Lexi "Goose".
Surviving are his brothers, Douglas (Theresa) Tracy of
Wellsboro, Pa., Richie (Annie) Ordway of Wellsville, Rick (Holly) Ordway,
Leonard (Karen) Ordway of Whitesville; several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces
and nephews.
Viewing will be held at the Mulholland-Crowell Funeral Home
Wednesday (July 19, 2017) from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Services will be on Thursday at
11 a.m. with a fire/EMS/Legion Riders procession that will take Jack for one
last ride to the Willing Fire Hall, where we will page out his last call.
Family and friends can follow from the fire hall to the North Bingham Cemetery.
After the graveside service, there will be a dinner at the Willing Fire Hall.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Willing Volunteer
Fire Dept.
Fly high, Jack. We know you are playing music and saving
angels. We will take it from here.
