Livingston Deputies solve felony crime in under 60 minutes

YORK: Livingston County Sheriff Thomas J. Dougherty reports the arrest of a Mount Morris resident after a report of a Burglary in the Town of York. On July 11, 2017 at approximately 7:00 a.m., the Livingston County Sheriff's Office was contacted directly by a local resident in the Town of York for a Burglary to an attached garage to their house. The homeowners at the location woke to find numerous items, including alcohol, cigarettes, and motorcycle accessories, stolen from their garage. Sergeant Chad Draper was one of the first units to arrive on scene, and while checking the surrounding area for clues to the thefts, he quickly located the stolen property in question and identified several potential suspects.  Other Deputy Sheriffs on scene assisted with interviews and evidence collection, leading to the arrest of 18-year-old Michael W. Flint.   Flint was charged with felony Burglary in the 2nd Degree and Petit Larceny. Flint was turned over to Central Booking Deputies at the Livingston County Jail for processing and pre-arraignment detention.  The District Attorney's Office recommended bail of $2,500 cash or $5,000 bond on the matter. Flint was later arraigned in the Town of Livonia Court before Justice Graf-Linsner.  The Judge set bail at $1,500 cash or $3,000 secured bond.
On scene investigating for the Sheriff''s Office along with Sergeant Draper was Captain Brian Applin who leads the Criminal Investigations Division, Deputy Marty Herkimer of the Road Patrol Division, and Deputy Bob Holt of the Forensic Identification Unit.
“Anytime we can solve a serious crime with no known suspects in under an hour, is a job very well done,” said Sheriff Dougherty.   “I commend Sergeant Draper and the assisting Deputies on scene for their attention to detail and putting in the extra steps to solve this crime; another great job by your Deputy Sheriffs.”
