HARTSVILLE: John W. LaChance, Jr., 77, of Purdy Creek Rd.
passed away unexpectedly Saturday (June 3, 2017) shortly after arrival at St.
James Mercy hospital after being stricken at home. John was born July 24, 1939
in Watertown to the late John W. and Ruth Mae (Casler) LaChance. On July 7,
1984 in Watertown he married the former Georgette Reynolds who survives and
resides in Hartsville.
John served our country proudly as a U.S. Marine from 1957
until honorably discharged in 1960. He had been employed at the Forbes Customs
Production in Dansville as a stock manager for the plastics fabrication
business.
John was an avid Buffalo Bills fan, and also collected many
coins. He also enjoyed the many ocean cruises he was fortunate to go on and was
always ready to go on the next one at a moment’s notice.
John’s family and
friends meant a great deal to him and enjoyed the precious time spent with
children and grandchildren. He was also very fond of his dog “Mac” who was at
his side every minute.
In addition to his wife Georgette of Hartsville, John is
survived by a son (Casey (Tracey) Parker of Hornell, step-daughters: Amy
(Ralph) Ward and Danielle (Richard) Parker-Walton all of Gouverneur, NY. His
grandchildren, Tyler, Taryn, Hayden, Karlie, Nichols, Brooklyn, Felicia,
Justine, Brenden, Dillon and Parker, great grandchildren, Laynee, Lovina,
Aeriella and Leo. He is also survived by two sisters: Patricia and Peggy
LaChance of Florida. John was predeceased by his parents, daughter, Stephanie
Sutherland and a grandson Caleb Walton.
At John’s request, there will be no calling hours or
service. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
