Belfast Central School to present Pride and Prejudice at Palmer Opera House in Cuba on May 7th.

Belfast Central School will perform Pride and Prejudice, adapted by Helen Jerome from the novel by Jane Austen, by special arrangement with Samuel French, on May 7th at 2 p.m. at the Palmer Opera House in Cuba (admission by donation).  This cast includes several seasoned actors including Eryn Broshar as Elizabeth Bennet, James Booth as Mr. Darcy, Sarah Marsh as Mrs. Bennet, Aidan Heaney as Lady Catherine De Bourgh, and Hunter Lincoln as Mr. Collins, and newcomers Reilly Shannon as Mr. Bennet, Mike Hamer as Mr. Bingley, and Ashley Estabrook as Jane Bennet. The play was selected because of its comedic moments and its variety of character types, from the ironic Mr. Bennet and his unrestrained wife to the fawning Mr. Collins to the arrogant Lady Catherine. Audience members will find plenty to laugh at in this good-natured portrayal of young people falling in and out of love under the sometimes misguided advice of their elders. The iconic proposal scenes reveal whether the characters can indeed overcome their pride and prejudices and follow their hearts. The cast and crew are honored to perform on the Palmer Opera House stage.  Two years ago Belfast Central School's Sherlock Holmes played at the Palmer as the first play in the newly restored building. They are thankful to Cuba Friends of Architecture for their efforts in bringing this historic venue back to life and delighted to participate in the cultural offerings at the Palmer Opera House. Admission is by donation, and refreshments will be available.  Donations to benefit the ongoing maintenance and improvements at the Palmer Opera House. For more information on the Cuba Friends of Architecture, or for more information on the Palmer please contact the Palmer Opera House at (585) 209-5512, or PalmerOperaHouse@gmail.com
