Almond/Hornell - Sally Ann Tucker Ormsby 81, passed away with her family at her bedside at St. James Hospital in Hornell on January 18, 2025 following a lengthy recovery from open heart surgery.
She outlived her husband George H. Ormsby, her parents, Arthur and Natalia Tucker, John Tucker, Frank Tucker, Laura Tucker, Faith Tucker Bolds, Sylvia Tucker George, Mary Tucker Green.
Survived by her brothers, David Tucker, Richard Tucker and sister-in-law Julie Tucker, Ronald Tucker and sister-in-law, Sherry Tucker, Jim “James” Tucker, brother, Robert Tucker,
Sister/Niece Mary Beth Rossborough, her children, Cindy L. Ormsby Edwards and her daughters Katey Edwards and Sara Edwards, honorary daughter, Debra Clark Coates, Lori H. Ormsby Morse, and her daughter Julie Ormsby Lehman, and sons, Dustin Morse(Christina) and Brandon (Jacci) Morse, son George H. Ormsby (Julia), and their sons, Tyler A. Ormsby, Jordan T. Ormsby, and her beloved 16 great grandchildren, Michael, Karli, Laci, Ryiah, Joshua,
Cassidy, Harmony, Onaliah, Lillian, Layla, Karter, Kaden. Cameron, Payton, Layne, and Penelope.
Sally was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother caring for her husband before his passing. Sally was a past Alfred Station Fire Department Auxiliary member. She was also past president and life member of the VFW Auxiliary. Sally was a long time parishioner of the First Baptist Church of Hornell. She worked at St. James Hospital for many years and was a hostess at Friendly’s and worked at the Stearns Poultry Store in Hornell before retiring. She was the “Trusted Key Holder” of her apartment complex at Riverbend for many years. Her interest included bowling, camping, and baking and walking with her friend Brenda, and family. She enjoyed attending many of her grand and great grandchildren’s sporting events.
The family will be present to receive friends on Thursday (Jan. 23, 2025) at the Bender-Brown & Powers Funeral Home, 354 Canisteo Street in Hornell from 11Am to 1:00 PM and 4 PM until 6 PM, at which time the Ladies Auxiliary of the VFW will hold a memorial service. Funeral services will follow with Rev. John Cwyner officiating. Burial will be in Maplewood Cemetery, Alfred Station.
Friends wishing may make memorial contributions to the American Cancer Society or the Heart Association.
