Hunt - Hiram Edward Kemp of 1167 Main Street, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, January 25, 2025, at the Livingston County Skilled Nursing Facility. He was born on June 4, 1934, in the Town of Granger, the son of the late Hiram A. and Dorothy Rich Kemp. On June 7, 1958, in the Short Tract Methodist Church he married Oleath Hull who survives.
Hiram was a veteran of the United States Army serving from 1953 to 1956. He was a retired USPS rural mail carrier and a retired bus driver for Keshequa Central School.
He was a former member of the Short Tract Fire Department, the Genesee Fall Fire Department, a founding member of the Nunda Ambulance, a member of the Dalton American Legion Arland Kelley Post No. 1569, a member of the Portageville Community Baptist Church where he served as a deacon, trustee and was former church treasurer.
Hiram enjoyed gardening, woodworking, photography, electrical work and mechanical work.
Surviving in addition to his wife are their children, Ruth (Dean) Schrock of Vancouver, WA, Esther (Steve) Howe of Hunt, George (Sharron) Kemp of Eden, NC, Paul (Rebecca) Kemp of Livonia, seven grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, two sisters, Kathy (Zafar) Ahmod, Winifred Austin both of New Jersey, a brother, Gordon (Rita) Kemp of Campbell and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents he was predeceased by a brother, David Kemp.
Family and friends may gather from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm and from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm on Thursday, January 30, 2025, at the Kopler-Williams Funeral Home, 21 N Genesee Street, Fillmore and from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm on Friday, January 31, 2025, at the Portageville Community Baptist Church where a funeral service will follow at 12:00 pm. Pastor Rob Andreas will officiate. Burial will be in Short Tract Cemetery, Short Tract.
