Two EVENTS at Allegany County Dem HQ on Wed., Aug 21

Two EVENTS at Allegany County Dem HQ on Wed., Aug 21:

‘Lunch and Learn’ at Noon; Open House with Congressional Candidate Tom Carle from 2-6pm

WELLSVILLE, NY — Bring a bag lunch and a beverage, and join fellow Democrats for our next “Lunch and Learn” program on Wed., August 21st at noon.  Titled,UUP and Politics: How the Union within SUNY Advocates for Candidates and Legislation,” we’ll learn how the United University Professions (UUP) is an ally in Allegany County and beyond.

Presenter William Schultze of Almond, NY recently joined the Allegany County Democrats as a volunteer. He serves as the Alfred State chapter president of United University Professions, the union representing teaching faculty and professional staff at state-administered campuses of the State University of New York. As part of his activity within UUP, outside of his work obligations to the college, he has met with NY legislators to advocate for a fairly funded public state university system that avails affordable higher education to those who desire it, regardless of means.

In this presentation, Mr. Schultze will not be speaking officially on behalf of UUP and its political positions, nor will he express an endorsement of any candidate.

From 2:00 – 6:00 p.m. please join us for an Open House with Tom Carle of Fredonia, who is running to represent NY’s 23rd congressional district.  Join Mr. Carle and your fellow Democrats to talk about key issues facing your family and how, with Tom as a member of Congress, Allegany County residents will benefit from his knowledge, background, and experience.

One of Mr. Carle’s immediate concerns is to help alleviate the suffering of families affected by recent catastrophic flooding in the Canisteo area. He asks all visitors to consider bringing a monetary donation to the United Way of the Southern Tier, which is assisting non-profit agencies that are helping local flood victims. All such donations to the Steuben County Flood Response Fund will be fully invested in flood relief with no monies withheld for administrative costs, according to United Way President and CEO Stephen M. Hughes. The United Way is asking that all donations be in the form of cash or checks written to “UWST Steuben County FRF.”
