Caneadea woman faces felony drug count after stop in Livingston County, I-390

INTERSTATE 390- Sheriff Thomas J. Dougherty reports the arrest of an Allegany County resident on felony and misdemeanor charges following a traffic stop.

On April 11th, 2024, Deputy Jason Page was assigned to the Sheriff's Office Highway Patrol Unit when he conducted a traffic stop on Interstate 390, in the Town of Avon, for violations of the NYS Vehicle and Traffic law.

During the roadside investigation, contact was made with the operator who was identified as 30-year-old Angelina Sorbello of Canadea, NY. A check of Sorbello’s NYS driver’s license revealed that her driving privileges in NYS had been suspended.

During the roadside investigation, it is alleged that Sorbello was also found to be in possession of a quantity of suspected cocaine.

Sorbello was arrested and charged with felony Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the fifth degree, misdemeanor Aggravated Unlicensed Operator of a Motor Vehicle in the third degree, as well as additional NYS Vehicle and Traffic Law violations.

Sorbello was transported and turned over to Central Booking Deputies at the Livingston County Jail for processing and pre-arraignment detention. The District Attorney's Office was contacted in regards to bail due to the felony level charges. It was recommended that Sorbello be released on her own recognizance, as the charges do not qualify for bail under the NYS Justice Reform Act.

Sorbello was later arraigned at the Livingston County Centralized Arraignment Part (LC-CAP) at the Livingston County Jail before Justice Bushnell. The Judge did release Sorbello on her own recognizance to return to court at a later date per the law.

The Livingston County Public Defender’s Office was present and represented Sorbello at the court arraignment for her defense. The Livingston County District Attorney’s Office was notified and did appear to represent the People.
