Details:
On December 30th , 2023, at around 1:10am, deputies with the Wyoming County Sheriff’s Office
were investigating a domestic incident that occurred at a residence on State Route 20A, in the
Town of Perry, when an unknown vehicle pulled into the driveway of the residence being
investigated. The driver of the vehicle was identified as Racheal E. Mead (28, of Perry, NY),
who stated she was a family member and advised she was there to pick up her two children that
were staying at the residence.
While interviewing Mead, deputies believed she was under the influence and began a DWI
investigation, which included administering standardized field sobriety testing. At around
1:23am, following standardized field sobriety testing, which Mead allegedly performed poorly, Mead was placed under arrest for Driving While Intoxicated. Mead was transported to the Wyoming
County Sheriff’s Office where she submitted to a Datamaster DMT certified breath test, which
showed Mead had a blood alcohol content of .18% or greater. It was also discovered that Mead
was previously convicted of DWI in the Silver Springs Village Court in 2021.
Mead was ultimately charged with Driving While Intoxicated – Prior Conviction within 10 years
(felony) and Aggravated DWI – Blood Alcohol Content .18 or Greater – Prior Conviction within
10 years (felony). Mead was processed and released on an appearance ticket and is scheduled to appear in the Perry Town Court at a later date. Following processing, Mead was transported to her residence and turned over to a sober third party.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
