A 24-year-old Coudersport man remains in the Potter County Jail without bail after he was taken into custody Saturday on a New York State murder warrant. At 8 p.m. Saturday, Jacob Michael Vanbergen was arraigned by Magisterial District Judge Bryan D. Phelps after Pennsylvania Troopers picked him up on a murder warrant. Vanbergen was remanded to jail and bail was denied because of the New York murder allegation. The case was transferred to the Court of Common Pleas. Authorities have yet to release details surrounding the murder allegations, but several in Potter County have heard rumors.
According to court records, Vanbergen has face a series of court appearance during the last decade. The most recent case involved his arraigned in December 2023 on ten counts to include DUI-highest rate. The case(s) remain under investigation.
