Comprehensive Plan, CCC address top Steubens Legislature's agenda Monday

BATH – The anticipated adoption of the Steuben County Comprehensive Plan and the annual address by Corning Community College President William Mullaney top the county Legislature’s agenda when it meets at 10 am Monday (Jan. 22) in the county Annex, 20 E. Morris St.

The Comprehensive Plan is the result of an 18-month process designed to provide direction for regional and intermunicipal issues in Steuben during the next 10-15 years.

Under the guidance, advice, and recommendation from the Steuben County Comprehensive Plan Steering Committee and two dozen shareholders, the plan includes input through public hearings and online surveys. Key areas in the plan focus on Agriculture, Economic Development, Housing, Parks, Trails, and Tourism, Resiliency and Climate Strategies, Transportation, Workforce Development, Infrastructure, and Broadband.

The plan is the subject of a public hearing and an environmental review is expected to be approved by the county Legislature before adoption. It is available for public review at https://www.steubencountyny.gov/688/Comprehensive-Plan-Project. The seventh President in CCC’s history, Mullaney was hired in 2019. Under his guidance, the school has weathered the challenge of the COVID pandemic which struck the region a scant nine months later and has launched a number of initiatives aimed at career building and job training.
