Potter County: Coronavirus Case Counts Grow

COVID-19 coronavirus case counts continued to rise across the region over the past 24 hours. Between Wednesday and Thursday, there were 13 more positive tests in Potter County. Four of the cases were in the Coudersport area, three in Austin, two in Roulette, two in Harrison Valley and one each in Shinglehouse and Galeton. State health departments also reported 34 more cases in Tioga County; 51 cases and one more fatality in McKean; six more cases in Cameron; 41 more cases and another death in Clinton; 167 cases and two more fatalities in Lycoming; and 37 more cases in Cattaraugus County, N.Y. Entering Thursday, overall case counts since the virus was detected stood as follows: Potter, 461 cases, 10 deaths; Tioga, 1,671  cases, 41 deaths; McKean, 1,187 cases, 11 deaths; Cattaraugus, 1,905 cases, 29 deaths; Allegany County, N.Y., 1,495 cases, 65 deaths; Clinton, 1,447 cases, 17 deaths; Elk, 967 cases, 13 deaths; Cameron, 104 cases, 2 deaths; and Lycoming, 4,440 cases, 81 deaths. Statewide, there have been 529,335 cases, an increase of 9.966 between Wednesday and Thursday, with 13,392 deaths. The latter figure grew by 224 over the past 24 hours.

New restrictions are now in place across Pennsylvania to combat the surge in coronavirus cases, including temporary measures to prohibit indoor dining in restaurants, the closure of casinos and theaters and a halt to scholastic sports. In a news conference, Gov. Tom Wolf imposed other limits on all businesses serving the public, capping retailers, barber shops and salons and other businesses to 50% of indoor occupancy limits.
