Alfred-Almond school reports "extensive" COVID exposure

From the school:

This letter is to inform you the school building will be closed for in-person learning beginning Thursday, December 17 through Tuesday, December 22, 2020 due to extensive COVID-19 exposure. Due to the amount of exposure we are unable to provide substitutes to cover the faculty and staff that will be quarantined to keep our building open. As such, we have made the decision to move grades PK-12 to full remote instruction immediately with a planned return to in person learning on January 5. As always, this decision was not made hastily and was made in collaboration with the Allegany County Department of Health and School Medical Director. Please note that closing our building for in-person instruction is not the same as closing our school. Teachers will deliver remote instruction daily and students are expected to remotely attend their regularly scheduled classes. We recognize the sacrifices individuals are making each day to help navigate the challenges we all face during this extraordinary time. Thank you in advance for your continued support and understanding and we wish you all a very happy and healthy holiday season. Sincerely,

Tracie Bliven

Superintendent of School
