BATH – The Steuben County Public Health Department received notification of the death of five individuals who had previously tested positive for COVID-19. This brings the total number of COVID-19 related deaths in Steuben County to 125. All individuals were residents of the Fred and Harriett Taylor Health Center; four males with ages of 74, 76, 84, and 86, and one female age 84.
“This remarkable and tragic single-day loss is so very difficult for all associated, and we know it takes a toll on the dedicated staff in our nursing homes,” said Public Health Director, Darlene Smith. “Please honor the lives of those lost and the tireless work of nursing home staff by doing all you can to limit the spread of COVID-19.”
All residents should continue to monitor themselves for COVID-19 symptoms of fever, cough, shortness of breath, chills or repeated shaking with chills, muscle pain, headache, sore throat, and new loss of taste or smell and contact their healthcare provider for instructions if feeling ill.
