Two Allegany County graduates receive CRCF scholarships

OLEAN, N.Y., August 22, 2018 — Two Allegany County students recently received scholarships managed by the Cattaraugus Region Community Foundation.

Kelsey Pierce, a Cuba-Rushford Central School graduate this year, received the Kaleigh Wilday Scholar Athlete Award.
This scholarship of $1,000 is awarded to a scholar athlete who is part of a scholar-athlete team during her or his senior year. The Cuba-Rushford Athletic Awards Committee chooses the recipient of the scholar-athlete award, which includes the $1,000 scholarship.
The Kaleigh Wilday Endowment Fund, established by Cuba residents Ward “Skip” and Greta Wilday in memory of their daughter, makes possible this annual scholarship.
Pierce will attend Jamestown Community College to study early childhood and special education.

Collin Poorman received the Maryetta’s Mission Scholarship for $250 this year.
This scholarship, established by Maryetta’s Mission c/o of the First Church of Good of Eldred (PA), is awarded to students who are entering or currently in a post-secondary program for Christian-based ministerial studies.
Poorman received the scholarship in 2017 as well.
Poorman, a 2015 graduate of Houghton Academy, will continue his studies in outdoor leadership and education/ministry at Toccoa Falls College.
Donations to the Kaleigh Wilday Endowment Fund or Maryetta’s Mission Scholarship Fund can be made at the Cattaraugus Region Community Foundation, 301 North Union Street, Suite 203, or online at cattfoundation.org.
