Canisteo Police Chief throws support behind Mackney for Sheriff

To the Citizens of Allegany County,
I am honored to write this letter in offering my support, along with the entire Canisteo Village Police Department on behalf of Walt Mackney in his endeavors towards being the next Sheriff of Allegany County.  Mr. Mackney has been an enormous part of our department with multiple drug investigations and the drug initiative program throughout all of Steuben County.  Mr. Mackney has always been available and a reliable source to myself and my department when in need.
Mr. Mackney has been part of our ALERRT Active Shooter trainings from the beginning, and has received multiple instructor certifications during this time. Through these ALERRT trainings he has instructed several officers from agencies throughout Steuben County and adjacent counties.  Mr. Mackney is dedicated to this field of work assisting with recruits in the Southern Tier Law Enforcement Academy, In-service trainings amongst agencies along with always providing information and assistance to the officers. Mr. Mackney is full of knowledge especially in the narcotics field and has the determination and drive to battle our increased drug problems happening every day.
Walt Mackney is a leader and always strives to better serve and protect our citizens in our area every day.  On behalf of the Canisteo Village Police Department, Walt Mackney has our endorsement in the upcoming election to be the next Sheriff of Allegany County.  We wish him best of luck!
Respectfully,
Chief Kyle C. Amidon
