William J. Houghtaling, 66, of Steuben Street, passed away Saturday (February 10, 2018) at the home of his brother on Crosby Street surrounded by his family.
Born in Hornell, September 7, 1951, the son of Earl and Dolores O’Rourke Houghtaling, he had resided in Hornell all his life. He was a graduate of Hornell High School and had been employed as a welder for 34 years at the former Foster Wheeler Corporation in Dansville. He was later employed at TTA Systems in Hornell.
He was predeceased by his father; Earl Houghtaling in 1999, and his sisters; Bonnie White in 2006, and Kathy Biddle in 2018.
Bill enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, riding his Harley, and spending time in Florida.
He is survived by his mother; Dolores Houghtaling of Hornell, his daughter; Noelle (Troy) Sanders of Florida his son; Chad (Rachel) Houghtaling of Jasper, and their mother; Connie Houghtaling of North Hornell, his sisters; Jean (Al) Stever of Arkport and Karan (Paul) Mess of Canaseraga, his brother; Thomas Houghtaling of Hornell, Grandchildren; Colton and Lauren Sanders, Brittany(Blaine) and Brandon McNally, Ben, Brody, Blake and Bristol Houghtaling, and Zoe and Odin Fontenot, as well as several nieces and nephews.

The family will be present to receive friends at the Bender - Brown & Powers Funeral Home, 354 Canisteo Street in Hornell on Tuesday (February 13, 2018) from 2-6 p.m., where Funeral services will be held at 6:00pm with Rev. Jesse Flint officiating.
