Cuba police recognize efforts of officers - Steiner named officer of the year

Chris Steiner - Officer of the Year
Recently the Cuba Police Department recognized staff members for their contributions in 2017. Among those recognized were Officer Frank Schostick for the top cop DWI award and Officer Tim Emley for the community service award for the many volunteer outreach events he attended in 2017. Officer Chris Steiner was awarded the officer of the year award. This award is voted on by every member in the department and goes to an officer who not only works hard on cases but also treats the public and his co-workers in a manner that reflects kindness and compassion. According to Chief Dustin Burch, "Officer Steiner always exemplifies a good natured attitude and spirit of teamwork." Officer Jim Galatio was awarded the leadership award for his years of experience and always being a member of our department that officers can look to for guidance. During 2017, Officer Galatio solved a total of 82 crimes (18 violations,41 misdemeanors and 23 felonies). Included in those cases were 2 weapons charges, 5 grand larcenies, 5 sex abuse cases, 9 burglaries and 7 major narcotics cases. Chief Burch said "it is because of his efforts and the closure of important cases that Officer Galatio has been placed into the special assignment of Investigator and will oversee all major cases that come to our office." He will be working with officers to ensure investigations are handled in the most efficient and effective manner.  The Cuba Police Department would like to say congratulations to all of these Officers and all of the Officers that work in our department for helping to make our profession shine. *These numbers include arrests where multiple charges were issued for one defendant*
