Obituary: Helen Preston Ross, 101, South Hornell

Helen Preston Ross, 101, of South Hornell, passed away early Monday morning (January 1, 2018) at St James Mercy Hospital.
Born in Town Of Hornellsville, August 5, 1916, the daughter of Floy and Della Gravelle Preston, she had resided in Hornell her entire life. She had attended school in Almond and was a graduate of Hornell High School, Class of 1935.
Helen had been employed in retail sales for many years; for the former Fanny Farmers Candy Company, the former “Big M” in Hornell and at the former Westinghouse Plant in Bath. Helen was a member of Christ Episcopal Church in Hornell.
She was predeceased by her parents, her husband Victor Ross in 1975, her daughter and son-in-law; Georgiann and Clinton Snyder both in 2004 , her son-in-law: Roger Smith, her sisters; Gladys Farley and Kathryn Friscina , her brother Kenneth Preston. And her grandson-in-law, Daniel Blake in 2004.

She is survived by two daughters; Victoria Smith and Marcia Ross both of South Hornell, grandchildren; Cheryl (Steve) Kress, Greg (Lisa) Smith, Loren (Maureen) Smith, Douglas (Christina) Smith and Stacy (Skeeter) Bacon, 13 Great Grandchildren, 3 Great Great Grand Children, nieces and nephews.

The family will be observing a private visitation and service at the Bender-Brown & Powers Funeral Home 354 Canisteo Street in Hornell. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Canisteo.
