Born on September 1, 1939 in Olean, N.Y., he was a son of
Henry M. and Anah B. Taylor Terrette. On
March 26, 1964 in Ansbach, Germany, he married Carole E. Sutton, who survives.
Jim attended Oswayo Valley High School in Shinglehouse. He was employed by Dresser-Rand in Olean for
many years, retiring in 2002.
Jim was a 64 year plus life member of the Shinglehouse
Volunteer Fire Department. He was a
member of the Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Wellsville. He enjoyed fishing and hunting. His greatest love was his family.
Surviving besides his wife are two sons, Timm C. (Susan)
Terrette of Shinglehouse and Gair C. (Pamela) Terrette of Port Allegany; four
grandchildren; two brothers, Gorden (Bonnie) Terrette of Acworth, Georgia and
Garold “Jerry” (Betty) Terrette of Murfreesboro, Tennessee; three sisters,
Peggy Leilous, Patricia Danforth, and Pudge (Don) Sturdevant, all of
Shinglehouse; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Jim was predeceased by three
sisters, Eva Simons, Marian Kemp, and Rebecca Stonemetz; and a brother, Henry
M. “Bud” Terrette, Jr.
Private burial services will be held on Monday, December 11,
2017 in Maple Grove Cemetery, Shinglehouse.
A memorial service will be held at 3pm on Sunday, December
17, 2017 at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 115 Chamberlain Street,
Wellsville, NY with Jack Cairns, officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Kingdom
Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 115 Chamberlain Street, Wellsville, NY 14895 or to
a charity of the donor’s choice.
