Susan J. Harmon:  Loving Mother and Sister

Susan J. Harmon, 76, of 2990 County Road 34, Richburg, passed away Saturday, May 11, 2024 at Cuba Memorial Hospital’s Palliative Care Unit after a courageous battle with cancer.

Born on November 18, 1947, in Medina, she was a daughter of Norman E. and Joanne R. Gibson Sowl.  On November 25, 1967 in United Church of Friendship she married Andrew Harmon who predeceased her on July 28, 1996.  

She was a graduate of Friendship Central School.  Susie had worked for the Richburg Central School, the Richburg Colonial Library, and the David A. Howe Library.  She also cared for the elderly in their homes and cleaned houses part-time.  

Watching birds and planting flowers brought he joy when she was home.

She is survived by a son Christopher Harmon of Richburg; two brothers William Sowl of Orlando, Florida and Sam Malek of Crystal River, Florida; two brother-in- laws Richard “Dick” Harmon of Bolivar and William “Bill” (Betty) Harmon of Belfast; and a sister-in-law Urma Rinker of Cuba; and several nieces and nephews.

At this time there will be no services. 

Burial will be in Maple Lawn Cemetery, Bolivar, New York.
