Ruth L. Hurd:  Loving Mother and Grandmother

Ruth L. Hurd, 95, formerly of 180 Mill Street, Richburg, passed away Wednesday, May 8, 2024 at the Wellsville Manor after a short illness.

Born on September 28, 1928, in Jasper, New York, she was a daughter of George and Hazel Johnson Morton.  

Ruth was a graduate of Friendship Central School.  

She had worked for Olean Advanced Products for 34 years, retiring in 2001.

Ruth served on the Richburg Central School Board of Education for eight year and at one time was the president of the school board.  She was a 4-H leader for ten years and loved gardening.  She was a great sports fan, both local and professional.  Wallpapering and sewing were several of her other passions.  She will be remembered for her homemade pies, baked beans, and homemade bread rolls, but spending time with her family was the most important part of her life. Surviving are  3 Children Lorrie (Kim) Faulkner of Richburg, Gary Hurd of Belfast, David (Carol Barrett) Hurd Richburg, 13 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren, 8 great great grandchildren ,Several Nieces and Nephews. In addition to her parents she was predeceased by two daughters Dianne Hackett and her infant daughter Judy Hurd, one brother Howard Morton, and two sisters Gertrude MacArdle and Eva Howard. Friends will be received at the Mark F. Rinker Funeral Home & Memorial Service, Inc., 554 South Main Street, Bolivar, on Friday, May 17, 2024 from 2-4 & 7-9 P.M.  Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, May 18, 2024 at the Richburg First Day Baptist Church, 128 Main Street, Richburg, New York 14774 at 11:00 A.M.  The Rev. Larry Allen will officiate. Burial will be in Richburg Cemetery. Memorial suggestions include the Richburg Fire Department, P.O. Box 74 Richburg, New York 14774 or to the Bolivar Richburg Youth Soccer, c/o Lorrie Faulkner, 2621 State Rte. 275, Bolivar, New York 14715
