Opinion piece regarding Rep. Tom Reed

Opinion piece from an Allegany County resident:

"Q-Anon Tom" --- it's not surprising that Governor Cuomo went for the jugular. But then your vote with regard to Marjorie Taylor Greene is problematic for you, I would think.  I realize that you must be mindful not to overly upset any conspiracy-minded voters that have been influenced by right wing echo chambers of misinformation --- infotainment outlets ever flush with millions of dollars from advertisers.  Not even the domestic terrorist mob wanting to hang Mike Pence on January 6th or the killing and maiming of Capitol Police officers were enough to get you to vote to impeach Trump for his incitement of the mob and his months long obsession to overturn the election --- so much for the law and order political party.  Oh, I know -- we shouldn’t encourage more discord (even though we are talking about the ultimate "discorder-in chief") and impeach and convict someone after they have left office. (“Gee officer, when you caught up with me, I wasn’t speeding any more.”)  Remember that there was well over a week left in the Trump presidency after he was impeached but Senator McConnell conveniently said there would be no trial before inauguration while he was still firmly in control of the Senate.  Now if there had been a sudden Supreme Court vacancy, might McConnell have tried to move heaven and earth to fill it in that same window of opportunity?  Excuse me for such a cynical thought.

And your blaming the loss of Siemens jobs in Olean on the brand new Biden administration --- really?  I believe the Siemens jobs that were lost months ago in Wellsville occurred during the Trump administration.  Was Trump any more responsible for the loss of those jobs than Biden is now for the ones in Olean?  Where's that bi-partisanship tone that being a member of the Problem-Solvers Caucus is supposed to give you?

Your blast at Governor Cuomo (another ego inflated, power hungry, ethically challenged individual in the same mold or mindset to some degree as Nathan Silver, Rudolph Giuliani, and Donald Trump and also nourished as they in the Big Apple) was deserved to a very great extent due to his handling of nursing home deaths and his penchant for micromanaging virtually everything.  I just wish you had had the intestinal fortitude to spend some of your ability to call out wrong doing on a President who bears SOME responsibility for the fact we are headed for half a million deaths (and beyond) because scores of people believed Trump when he said covid is a hoax, because he downplayed testing much of the time and often left States to scramble for resources on their own, and because (among other things) he politicized mask wearing, something that is still bearing considerable ill fruit.  I know, I know --- the tribe we belong to and the survival of our political future must take precedence over the welfare of the country as a whole --- profiles in courage can be political suicide, especially in an era when we seem to be about as divided a nation as we were at the time of our last uncivil war more than 150 years ago.  Yep, the present situation could get a lot worse as the business model that consists of disinformation for profit continues unabated.

Gonna run for governor?  Maybe?  When NYS loses one or more Congressmen as a result of the latest census, you might have to run against another Republican representative anyway in a primary for a congressional district even larger than the one you have now.

Keep dancin', Congressman Reed.  I hope the producers of "Dancing With the Stars" are watching because you really do have some great moves.
