BATH – The Steuben County Public Health Department received notification of the death of two individuals who had previously tested positive for COVID-19. This brings the total number of COVID-19 related deaths in Steuben County to 117. One individual was a 95 year old female resident of the Fred and Harriett Taylor Health Center. Another individual was a 66 year old male from the Town of Caton who died while hospitalized.
“It is difficult to find the appropriate words to express the collective pain of these losses,” said Public Health Director, Darlene Smith. “Each death is a somber moment for our community, but should also strengthen our resolve to fight with every resource available to limit the spread of COVID-19 to prevent future losses.”
All residents should continue to monitor themselves for COVID-19 symptoms of fever, cough, shortness of breath, chills or repeated shaking with chills, muscle pain, headache, sore throat, and new loss of taste or smell and contact their healthcare provider for instructions if feeling ill.
