Steuben Reports 1 COVID Death

BATH – The Steuben County Public Health Department received notification of the death of an individual who had previously tested positive for COVID-19.  This brings the total number of COVID-19 related deaths in Steuben County to 83.  The individual was a male resident of the Town of Canisteo who died at age 64 while hospitalized.

“COVID-19 has cut short the lives of too many Steuben residents,” said Public Health Director, Darlene Smith.  “Unfortunately, this is another example that age is not an indicator of how severely COVID-19 may impact you. Join us in doing all you can to protect your friends, family, neighbors and the community from this deadly virus.”

All residents should continue to monitor themselves for COVID-19 symptoms of fever, cough, shortness of breath, chills or repeated shaking with chills, muscle pain, headache, sore throat, and new loss of taste or smell and contact their healthcare provider for instructions if feeling ill.
