Statement from Town of Wellsville COVID Management

We, the Town of Wellsville COVID Management Team, want to take a moment to wish you all a very happy and safe Thanksgiving. There are a few reminders we want everyone to keep in mind and practice at the best of your abilities:

·         Wear a mask! Not only is this state mandated, but this will help keep our positive Covid cases in check.

·        Maintain social distancing! Keeping our distance will also help prevent the spread of the virus.

·        Wash your hands! Doing this regularly will, along with hand sanitizing, will help keep you safe.

·        Quarantine - for those who have been advised to quarantine please remain at home.  Contact tracers and others will be in touch with you to make sure you have everything you need.  Delivery of groceries, prescriptions, etc is available if you have been mandated to quarantine.  Please help stop the spread by remaining at home for the designated amount of time.

The Southern New York deer season opener is this weekend and anyone that has been an area resident for any time knows that this brings in a lot of city hunters. Erie County is having a major outbreak with positive cases, many of these hunters will come to this area and frequent our local businesses. We are also coming upon the Thanksgiving holiday that will bring in other travelers from unknown areas. Do not let your guard down as so many of us have in recent months. This is the time for everyone to take greater measures to ensure your safety and the safety of others. If you do need to call 911 for an emergency, you need to answer the questions accurately that the dispatcher will be asking you. This is for your safety and the safety of those that will respond to assist you.

The Wellsville area has seen a dramatic increase in positive cases, we are on the verge of another local State of Emergency and possible further restrictions from the Governor. Many of our businesses have either remained closed, shut down again, or are on the edge of closing their doors for good. With the help of every citizen we can help stop the spread, not only keeping us all safe but also helping to revive our local economy. Again, we wish you all a very safe and Happy Thanksgiving, also any hunters please be safe while in the field.
