Obituary: Helen D. “Sally” Richardson, 90, Fillmore


Fillmore --- Helen D. “Sally” Richardson, 90, of 18 Minard Street died Friday, November 20, 2020 in the Houghton Nursing and Rehabilitation Facility. She was born on August 19, 1930 in Toronto, Canada, a daughter of the late E. Warren and Helen A. Davidson Richardson.

In 1949 the family moved to Fillmore and Sally began attending Houghton College, graduating in 1953 with a double major in French and Christian Education. After graduating Sally began working in New Jersey in Child Evangelism for several years. She then returned to Fillmore and became employed by Houghton College where she worked in the Admissions Office, giving tours of the campus to prospective students and writing acceptance letters. Afterward she began working at Motorola in Arcade until her retirement. Following her retirement, Sally worked at the Letchworth State Park Museum one summer as a receptionist. 

Sally attended the Fillmore Wesleyan Church and taught Sunday school part of the time. She enjoyed reading, mostly history and biography, walking, especially in Letchworth State Park; and socializing with the ladies in a birthday group and other friends. Sally was a wonderful friend and her friendship and knowledge enlivened birthday group discussions.

Surviving are a niece, Kimberly Kauffmann of Bridgeton, NJ and a nephew, Kevin Richardson of North Las Vegas, NV.

In addition to her parents she was predeceased by a brother, Warren Richardson and a sister in law, Edna Richardson.

A graveside service will be held Wednesday, November 25, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. in Pine Grove Cemetery, Fillmore. Jamie Stevens will officiate.
