Steuben deputies charge man after high-speed chase

Steuben County Sheriff Jim Allard reports that on April 7, 2020, deputies of the Steuben County Sheriff’s Office arrested Seth C. Decker, age 25, of Robins Way, Lansing, New York. On March 13th deputies working the STOP-DWI Crackdown Detail attempted to stop a vehicle on I-86 in the Town of Campbell. It is alleged that Decker operated the vehicle with switched license plates, no insurance and no inspection. It is further alleged that he refused to stop, accelerated to an unsafe speed, drove recklessly, endangered other drivers and refused to stop, placing the public in jeopardy. Deputies stopped pursuing the vehicle in the interest of public safety and continued to investigate and determine the identity of the operator. On April 7 Decker was located in Tompkins County and taken into custody. Mr. Decker was charged with the following:

Reckless Endangerment in the First Degree; Obstructing Governmental Administration in the Second Degree; Fleeing a Police Officer in a Motor Vehicle in the Third Degree; Reckless Driving; Speeding; Driving on the Shoulder of the Road; Failed to Signal; Fail to Keep Right; Following Too Close.

It is further alleged that Mr. Decker violated a term or condition of his probation in Tompkins County. Mr. Decker was arraigned in the Centralized Arraignment Court and remanded to the Steuben County Jail.
