Cattaraugus County Health Department is sad to report the second
death of a resident of Cattaraugus County due to COVID-19 related
complications. He was a 44-year-old male with extensive underlying health
conditions who developed sudden respiratory failure and was unable to overcome
his illness despite aggressive medical treatment. We extend our deepest
condolences to his family and the entire Cattaraugus County community.

Cattaraugus County Health Department was notified of two
additional confirmed cases of COVID-19 residents within Cattaraugus County. The
thirty-fourth confirmed case is a male resident who resides in the northeast
quadrant of the county who is a healthcare worker that travels to various
healthcare facilities, who developed cough, fever burning sensation of nose,
body aches and loss of taste. He was tested for COVID-19 on April 22nd and his
test results on April 23rd indicated that he was positive for COVID-19.
The thirty-fifth confirmed case is a female resident who
resides in the southeast quadrant of the county who has no significant travel
history, who developed cough, shortness of breath, a sinus infection and
diarrhea. She was tested for COVID-19 on April 22nd and her test results on
April 23rd indicated that she was positive for COVID-19.
The department has begun a thorough contact tracing investigation
for those individuals that they have been in contact with and the places that
they visited.
