PRESS RELEASE:
Today, thirteen bipartisan Members from the New York Congressional delegation called on Congress to include funding directly to local communities as part of a “Phase 4” funding package to address the Coronavirus pandemic.
The letter reads, “...as a group of bipartisan members from across New York, we strongly encourage you to expand the state stabilization fund from the CARES Act to also include a fund for direct distribution to local governments regardless of size."
In supporting this effort to provide funding for local governments, the New York State Association of Counties stated, “We strongly urge Congress to allocate resources directly to counties, particularly, for counties in states like New York who require the implementation of public health, emergency response and public safety responsibilities to county governments.”
Congress is currently debating additional measures to address health, safety and economic issues facing the country as result of the Coronavirus pandemic.
