Obituary: Caroline C. Dye, 81, formerly of Cuba

PORT ORANGE, Fla. — Caroline C. Dye, 81, of Port Orange, passed away Aug. 1 at Halifax Health Hospice Care Center in Port Orange. She and her husband, Larry, have been snowbirds since 2003, splitting their time between Florida and Cuba, N.Y. She worked for CBS and TNN on the production team at various NASCAR races. Caroline was a Brownie and Girl Scout leader and past president of the Allegany County Republican Women. She was an avid golfer in the Cuba area and a member of the Crane Lakes WGA. She served one term on the board of directors at Cuba Memorial Hospital and also staffed the fire reporting phones for the Cuba Fire Department for several years, before the system was transferred to the 911 center at the county office. She leaves behind her loving husband of 61 years, Larry; daughter, Debby (Charlie) Slaight; grandchildren, David and Nichol Dye and Ali, Abi and Tom Slaight; her cousin and best friend, Nancy Trinowski; and other extended family members. Caroline was preceded in death by her son, Dennis; her parents, Herman and Ethel Snyder Holland; and her brother, PFC David Holland, USMC. At Caroline’s request, there will be no funeral services. Burial will be in Cuba at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family has suggested memorials in her name to Cuba Circulating Library, 39 E.
